Introducing the X7, a brand new D3 ski for 2011. The X5 was such a huge success we decided to give skiers looking for the “X5 feel” a new ride to take their skiing to the next level. If you have tried the new breed of faster skis and just cant find the stability and predictability you are seeking the new X7 is the “answer”.

We started by recreating the deep riding, larger, bevels from the X5. These bevels were then married with the rocker pattern of the Z7 ST. The X7 is a bit wider than it’s predecessor the X5. This gives the X7 improved speed and glide out to the turns. The additional width has resulted in a very level ride. The added width in the tail supports the skier and keeps the ski from riding tip high. The additional width in the fore-body keeps the tip supported during the turn thus allowing the skier to maximize the load to the front of the ski generating more angle as the ski approaches the wake. The X7 is designed for the skier looking for the ultimate in stability and performance without sacrificing control.

The new D3 X7 is the brother to the D3 Z7 ST. Both skis are at the pinnacle of design, quality and performance. Produced with the same aerospace materials and D3’s unequalled quality construction both the X7 and Z7 are the finest skis money can buy.

What is the difference between the Z7 ST and the new X7?

The Z7 ST delivers the ultimate in speed and agility. The ST has a quick, complete turn and takes very little effort to ride. Once the Z7 grabs angle it is very easy to maintain it to the wake.  For technical skiers who look for the boat to do the work the Z7ST is the ski for you.

The X7 rides very deep in the water creating unmatched stability. The ski continues building angle out of the turn that has to be experienced to be appreciated. The X7 does take a bit more effort to ride and performs best when skied aggressively. The X7 should be the first choice for skiers who prefer predictability over speed. For any level slalom skier looking for the most stable turns on the planet and extreme shortline skiers seeking the ability to add angle into the white-water before the wakes the X7 is your ride.

Connelly Prophecy Slalom Water Ski 2010

2010 Connelly Prophecy Slalom Water Ski

Sizes: 65”, 66”, 67”, 68”
MSRP (blank): $899.99
Team skier: Jamie Beauchesne

WS: What is the Connelly Prophecy slalom water ski’s single best performance feature ?
JB: Pretty simple: This ski turns really well on my offside. Most people can kill their onside turns, and with the Connelly Prophecy you can have your offside on lock as well. Also, it holds angle off the wake better than anything I’ve ever skied on.

WS: How does the Connelly Prophecy slalom water ski accommodate your particular style/method ?
JB: The ski’s large sweet spot and crisp bevels have allowed me and a lot of skiers to feel the benefits of things like counter-rotation and advancing the ski for the first time.

WS: Is there a particular skiing style the Connelly Prophecy is best suited for ?
JB: This ski suits all styles, but grooves well with skiers who blend modern counter-rotation and old-school hips-up ripping.

WS: How close to the factory settings is your setup ?
JB: I helped establish the factory settings, so they’re one and the same.

D3 Z7st Slalom Water Ski 2010

2010 D3 Z7st Slalom Water Ski

Sizes: 64”, 65”, 66”, 67”, 68”
MSRP (blank) : $1,299
Team skier: Terry Winter

WS: What is the D3 Z7st slalom water ski’s single best performance feature ?
TW: Total symmetry. My DS Z7st feels exactly the same across both sides of the course. It eliminates the stress of onside versus offside; and a balanced, symmetrical line on both sides of the course is every skier’s goal.

WS: How does the D3 Z7st slalom water ski accommodate your particular style/method ?
TW: It holds its speed well; therefore it doesn’t overload out of the turn. This makes my angle and direction far more maintainable.

WS: Is there a particular skiing style the D3 Z7st is best suited for ?
TW: That’s the beauty of the D3 Z7st, and all D3 skis for that matter: It fits so many different skiing styles. It’s what they’ve always been famous for.

WS: How close to the factory settings is your setup ?
TW: I don’t need to deviate very far. I add a few thousandths to the depth and the length, but overall I’m right there.

2010 Goode 9900SL Slalom Water Ski

Sizes: 62”, 64.25”, 65.75”, 66.5”, 67.25”, 68.5”
MSRP (blank): $1,390
Team skier: Chris Parrish

WS: What is the Goode 9900SL slalom water ski’s single best performance feature ?
CP: Plain and simple, the Goode 9900SL is crazy fast. What more could you want? If I can get from one side of the course to the other in good time, I feel like my problems are solved.

WS: How does the Goode 9900SL slalom water ski accommodate your particular style/method ?
CP: This ski is the most forgiving on the market. The design of the ski allows me to make up ground when I make a mistake.

WS: Is there a particular skiing style the Goode 9900SL is best suited for ?
CP: Really, anyone will feel at home on this ride. When you can depend on cross-course speed, regardless of position, you run more buoys.

WS: How close to the factory settings is your setup ?
CP: Dave Goode has things figured out, so I haven’t had to mess around with things too much.

HO A1 Slalom Water Ski 2010

Sizes: 65”, 66.25”, 67.5”, 68.75”
MSRP (blank): $1,300
Team skier: Marcus Brown

WS: What is the HO A1 slalom water ski’s single best performance feature ?
MB: The best feature of the HO A1 is the low tip height. The result is the largest sweet spot of any ski on the market. It allows skiers to make multiple mistakes and still keep their eyes on the prize.

WS: How does the HO A1 slalom water ski accommodate your particular style/method ?
MB: The flatter ride keeps the ski fast, yet allows me to slide a turn on a dime when I’m in trouble. Because of the fatter tail design, not only does the ski never kick out, but when I do dig a hole at the buoy the ski never stops.

WS: Is there a particular skiing style the HO A1 is best suited for ?
MB: It is a completely different design from any other ski and different is good. Who wants to pay over a grand for a brand-new ski that is just like the old one? This ski is what every skier wants, but just doesn’t know it yet. It allows you to ski better and not get penalized for making mistakes.

WS: How close to the factory settings is your setup ?
MB: I’m really close to stock. The biggest difference is a little added depth.

Marcus Brown’s Fin Settings:

Depth: 2.515”
Length: 6.88”
Distance from tail: .765”

O’Brien Elite Slalom Water Ski 2010

Andy Mapple  O'Brien Elite Slalom Ski
By :  http://waterski-wakeboard.blogspot.com/

2010 O’Brien Elite Slalom Water Ski

Sizes: 66”, 67”, 68”
MSRP (blank): $1,999
Team skier: Andy Mapple

WS: What is the O’Brien Elite slalom water ski’s single best performance feature ?
AM: The specific tip geometry on the O’Brien Elite allows a very consistent flex from the front boot to the tip. This allows the tip to stay in the water throughout the turn without needing to “wheelie” to shed excess pressure. Additionally, I’d have to say it’s the ski’s agility.

WS: How does the O’Brien Elite slalom water ski accommodate your particular style/method ?
AM: I like a ski to carry speed through the turns, because the less speed I have to bleed off to make a turn, the faster I will get to the other side. The Elite is incredibly quick and responsive; this allows me to correct my mistakes.

WS: Is there a particular skiing style the O’Brien Elite is best suited for ?
AM: I don’t really buy into the “style of skier for a certain ski” theory. I can say the Elite is very balanced, and it will actually adjust the skier’s position to find its sweet spot.

WS: How close to the factory settings is your setup ?
AM: I run my fin a bit deeper and a little shorter than stock.

Andy Mapple’s fin settings

Depth: 2.514”
Length: 6.841”
Distance from tail: .775”

Strada Slalom Water Ski 2010

2010 Strada Slalom Water Ski

Sizes: 65”, 66”, 67”, 68”
MSRP (blank): $1,150
Team skier: Chris Rossi

WS: What is the Radar Strada slalom water ski’s single best performance feature ?
CR: The Strada gets you across the lake fast and inspires confidence through all phases of the turn. This heightened assurance has allowed me to make the best offside turns of my life.

WS: How does the Radar Strada slalom water ski accommodate your particular style/method?
CR: I do not have to think or work on specific techniques to run buoys. I come into the buoys with enough space to make confident, balanced turns.

WS: Is there a particular skiing style the Radar Strada is best suited for ?
CR: It will perform for all skiers, regardless of style or boat speed. We wanted a ski that ripped for both 34 mph and 36 mph skiers, yet still was stable enough to get novices through their first six buoys.

WS: How close to the factory settings is your setup ?
CR: The factory settings are a great place to start. My only personal twist on the factory settings is a few thousandths in additional depth.
Chris Rossi’s Fin Settings

Depth: 2.515”
Length: 6.840”
