MEET OUR COACHING STAFF

Not only does Stoney Park provide you with the perfect ski site, but we also give you with quality coaching to match. Here are our professional ski instructors:
Heading the coaching team is accomplished three-event skier and former Australian team representative, Jason Stone.
Jason, having spent many years coaching and competing internationally is ready to put his expertise and skills into place here at Stoney Park.
Having been coached by and trained with the best skiers in the world, Jason is up to date with all the latest coaching techniques.
Jason's easygoing nature and relaxed approach bring out the best in every student, from beginners through to the highest level of competitive skier.
Jason is not only is the head coach at Stoney Park, but has vast experience in coaching the Australian Under 21 Waterski team, Australian Junior team members as well as New Zealand Senior and Junior team members.
Jason's recent skiing achievements include scoring 1 buoy on the 10.75 metre line (skiing at 58kph) in the 2010 NSW state titles.  

Al Vickers

Al Vickers has now made Stoney Park his permanent home, after many years of commuting between the Princes Club in London and Stoney Park in Australia. He now resides full time at Telegraph Point and will hopefully be with us for many more years to come. This will be Al's fourth year at Stoney Park.
Al is a slalom specialist coach/skier who originally hails from Hamilton, New Zealand. Al has been featured many times this year in the Australian Waterski magazine - even getting the prestigious front cover photo towards the end of last summer.



Bruce Cockburn

The summer of 10/11 will be the third "official" full summer for legendary skier - Bruce Cockburn. Bruce has been coming up on and off for the past few years to Stoney Park to participate in coaching clinics and tournaments, but now spends half his year coaching at Stoney Park , and the other half generally travelling the world, coaching and judging at World championships and elite tournaments.
Where do we start with Bruces skiing achievements and background? He started skiing competitively at the age of 12 years old . He won 7 uner 16 Australian titles and 26 Open mens titles! He has representated Australia 6 times and various world titles from 1967 - 1977. He won the world trick title in 1969 and came second in tricks in 1973. He came second in the world jump title in 1975. Bruce retired from elite competition in 1979 but since then has still remained very active in competition. He Has won numerous over 35 Australian titles and is stil the current holder of the over 35 mens slalom record (3.5 buoys on the 10.75 metre line).
Bruce's passion for many years has not only been the skiing itself, but also the coaching. He has coached many Australian skiers who have gone on to represent the country at world and regional championships. Some of the more recent skiers include: Mitchell Cockburn, Elise Cockburn, Chris Cockburn, Dane Puxty, Michale Briant, Karina Nowlan, Tim Bradstreet and Alyce Bradstreet. Bruce is also now an IWSF Hall of fame member.
We welcome Bruce to Stoney Park for the summer of 10/11!

Chris Wharton

Chris is an up and coming junior English skiier, who will be here for the 2nd time for the summer of 10/11. Chris has represented Great Britain in 4 European Junior Championships (2006-2009). Chris will be returning to Stoney Park after competing in the Junior World Championships, which are being held in Italy in 2010.

 Jacinta Carroll

Australian Junior champion skier, Jacinta (rabbit or bunny as she is fondly known) Carroll is making Stoney Park her home for most of the 2010/2011 summer.  Jacintas first year coaching at Stoney Park was last summer and she was a fantastic hit with skiers of all ages.  Jacinta has trained at Stoney Park under the watchful eye of Jason Stone, since she was 10 years old.  Jacintas skiing accomplisments are now greater than her height!  She is the Australian open womens jump champion (2 years in a row), she was the silver jump meddalist at the 2009 Junior World championships (which were held in Mexico, january 2009) and more recently, was the winner of the jump division in the Junior US Masters.  She is an accomplished 3 event skier and a future world champion.   We are proud to have had so much to do with her skiing in the past 7 years and to now be able to bring her onboard as part of our team.
